Flor de Corazón

Flor de Corazón

Representing a small collective from San Mateo, Flor de Corazon is a symbol of Yoloxochitl (which translates directly to Spanish from the native Nahuatl language).

Within the Sierra Madre Oriental, in the state of Oaxaca, Mexico lies San Mateo Yoloxochitlán: home to a small group of organic farms. They're more than coffee farms, these are small family businesses, and an important part of the local economy.

As a border region where the Veracruz, Puebla and Oaxaca regions converge, the localities high altitude at 1550m above sea level means it has a comparatively cooler climate, well-suited to coffee farming and production.

The name could not be more apt. Flor de Corazon, the "flower of the heart", is itself is also a name for a regional, pink heart-shaped flower variety. Used medicinally for centuries as a homeopathic remedy, it is in this instance, a life-giving name perfectly suited to represent a beautiful coffee, in turn helping a beautiful community in Oaxaca flourish.
